I live in a small, quiet town, somewhat removed from the faster pace of some places in the world. However, I find that life, just inside my tiny corner of it, is quite full and provides endless subject matter and visual and emotional stimulation. Opportunities for creativity exist in almost everything I do and I find that all my pursuits connect and eventually lead to what I do in my studio. I enjoy taking care of my home, spending time with family, cooking, working in the garden, gathering mushrooms, playing music, working in theater, with my art being in the center of it all.
I like telling the stories of my world in my work. Although my subjects are everyday things and places near to me, I feel there is more to each of these subjects than what is seen on the surface because we all have deep relationships and connections with very ordinary things. I have a curiosity about and often a love for the subjects I am drawn to. The restaurant kitchen is a place where people do their work. The gas station at the supermarket, albeit a garish bright scar in a moonlit night, is a hub of human activity and in some ways is the heart of the town. These things evoke feelings in me that I wish to put down in paint.

BIOGRAPHY
I was born and raised in Erie Pennsylvania. After attending a public technical high school with a focus on commercial art, I attended the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. I moved to Maine in 1980 after my first visit to the state and married in 1984 and had three children. Between 1986 and 1996 I was a freelance illustrator, creating work for local, regional and national publication.
I homeschooled my children between 1986 and 2006. When my youngest child completed her home education I returned to painting with more consistency and seriousness.
