Eleven years ago I was employed as a cook for a group of women artists who rented a house on a Maine Island for a week long art retreat. They have faithfully continued the tradition every summer since, gathering to make art on different islands off the Maine coast.
I was always able to fit in my own painting time between making meals, which made each island retreat an intense, full and productive experience.
